The City of Santa Monica is in search of a City Architect and a Senior Architect

City Architect

Salary Range: $151,608 – $187,164/Annually.

Job Summary: Plans, directs and manages the staff and operations of the Architecture Services Division. Develops, coordinates and oversees large and complex municipal architectural projects, including planning, design, and construction activities of Capital Improvement Projects (CIPs), public works projects, and tenant improvement projects related to city-owned and/or leased facilities and open spaces.

Requires: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or a closely related field.  A Master’s degree in Architecture or a closely related field is desirable. Five years of recent, paid and progressively responsible professional work experience as an Architect managing large scale projects and two years of recent, paid work experience in municipal related architectural design and project management is desirable.  At least three years of the required work experience must have included supervisory and management responsibilities.  Licenses: Current Registration as a Professional Architect in the State of California. Possession of LEED Professional Accreditation, or other green building rating system, is desirable. Senior Architect

Salary: $10,144 – $12,524/mo.

Job Summary: Plans, organizes, coordinates and performs a wide range of architectural design and project management activities. Supervises, coordinates and evaluates the work of assigned staff.

Requires: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or a closely related field. Five years of recent, paid and progressively responsible work experience as a professional architect managing large scale projects. Two years of the required work experience must have included leading and coordinating the work of others. Successful completion of the City of Santa Monica Pre-Supervisory Academy may substitute for one year of leading and coordinating the work of others. A Master’s degree in Architecture may substitute for one year of the required work experience. Two years in municipal architectural design and project management is desirable. Possession of a valid class C driver license. Registration as a Professional Architect in the State of California. Possession of LEED Professional Certification is desirable.
