Make a Difference, Join the AWA+D Board of Directors

 

It’s that time of year again! Help support AWA+D’s rich heritage of advancing and enriching women in the allied fields of architecture and design. We are currently accepting applicants for a variety of board member roles for the upcoming fiscal year (begin in October) for a 1 year commitment minimum. Volunteering with us is a great way to meet other women and network professionally and socially, and it’s an excellent way to sharpen or learn professional skills. AVAILABLE ROLES:

Systems Chair - The role of the Systems Chair is to assist the Systems Director in managing the Association’s website, databases and email systems. Updating the website when needed and assisting with troubleshooting technical issues. Prior experience with WordPress would be helpful but not required. It is recommended that chairs attend board meetings once per quarter (4 times a year). Board meetings are held once per month on Sunday mornings.

Time Required: Approx 1-2 hours a week.

Membership Chair – Assist the Membership Director with recruiting new members, maintaining the membership database, and answering questions relating to membership from potential new members. The membership chair will also need to regularly attend events to sign-up new members and answer questions relating to membership. It is recommended that chairs attend board meetings once per quarter (4 times a year). Board meetings are held once per month on Sunday mornings.

Time Required: Approx 1-2 hours a week.

Mentorship Chair – Work with the Mentorship Director on identifying evolving needs of the Association’s membership and potential future members with regards to mentorship. Assist the Mentorship Director in recruiting mentors and setting up events in conjunction with the Programs and Membership teams, ie Portfolio Reviews & Speed Mentoring events. It is recommended that chairs attend board meetings once per quarter (4 times a year). Board meetings are held once per month on Sunday mornings.

Time Required: Approx 1-2 hours a week.

Newsletter Chair - Work with the Communications team and Programs team virtually to create our bi-monthly newsletter. Basic writing and image editing skills (Photoshop) though our Graphic Designer provides most imagery, and prior email marketing skills are helpful but not required. Understanding of email marketing skills like working with email lists, segments, HTML, links, visual design, basic analytics, understanding of social integration are bonuses. Prior use of Constant Contact and or Mailchimp preferred. Work closely online with other team members for campaigns. Ability to use Google Drive for project management. Detailed eye, good communicator, dedication to non-profit team. It is recommended that chairs attend board meetings once per quarter (4 times a year). Board meetings are held once per month on Sunday mornings.

Time Required: Approx 5-8 hours twice a month.
