SoCalNOMA Presents: A Lecture with Zena Howard, AIA« Back to Events
AWA+D is proud to partner with the National Organization of Minority Architects, Southern California Chapter, as they host a lecture by architect Zena Howard of Perkins+Will.
Zena Howard, AIA, LEED AP was the point person for the Smithsonian Institution in executing the design and construction of the nearly 400,000-square-foot 10 level National Museum of African American History and Culture (NMAAHC). The museum is one of the most sustainable national museums ever built and the greenest of all Smithsonian Institution buildings. As Senior Project Manager for the NMAAHC, Ms. Howard managed the Freelon Adjaye Bond/SmithGroup team of four architecture firms and 29 consultants throughout pre-design, design, construction documentation, and fast-track construction.
See and hear an in-depth presentation about the concepts behind the design and construction of one of the United States most recent iconic buildings. Ms. Howard will accentuate her specialized architectural design goals such as environmental stewardship, historically-significant building preservation, and community economic development. She will share the works of past projects as well as projects in design such as the new museum for Motown Records.
Purchase tickets through the SoCalNOMA Events page. $30 General Admission, $10 for full-time students with valid ID, free for NOMA members. AWA+D members receive a $10 discount with coupon code SoCalNOMA applied at purchase. No refunds or exchanges will be accepted.
